While it’s not the original, what you’re looking at is the Headless Horseman Bridge from Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. Or at least one of them. There isn’t a bridge in the location from the story but this bridge, located in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, is probably the closest you’re going to get.
This is my favorite rest stop in the cemetery and I love to stop here for lunch when I visit. It’s a beautiful, relaxing place to stop and you’re bound to run into more people stopping for a quick photo-op.
During the month of October, Sleepy Hollow does a spooky haunted tour where they tell the story of the Headless Horseman and though while the whole “haunted tour” thing isn’t my thing I’d love to come back up there to see it.
