I never knew there was a Vietnam war memorial right off of the Parkway. It was very nice to walk through and there were a lot of vets visiting for the weekend. Slightly off to the side and behind the Vietnam Memorial building is a pathway that leads to a beautiful stature commemorating the dogs that fought alongside us during the war. The memorial was quiet, unassuming, and easily missed if you’re not paying attention. But it is powerful when you see it.
A number of bricks that surround the memorial contain the names of dogs that assisted, be it as a medical dog or scouts or even just as a companion to the brave soldiers that fought. It is a simple, sweet gesture honoring our four legged friends that did their part aside their human counterparts.
